Meca retreat is set in a peaceful village with stunning views across the River Minho. Paredes de Coura is just a ten minute drive with a variety of banks, stores & restaurants or to cool down in the shadey river Coura. The Vodaphone music festival is held here yearly in August with national & international artists performing. July is a great time for getting up close to the beautiful Lusitano horses at the Ponte de Lima horse festival, or just to take in the local history of the place or watch the world go by with a meia de leite or a glass of local vinho verde or tinto, a Garden Festival runs all sumer long. Casa Xisto is the closest eating establishment & has plenty of authentic Portuguese food & wine on offer @ very reasonable prices. Many local towns have weekly markets, local produce as well as traditional Portuguese ware which can make very suitable gifts. With many historical towns to visit you will be spoilt for choice, or for the  more sporty there is, golf, fishing, horseback riding, cycling & canoeing, there is also plenty of off road hiking paths in the area. No need to move far from the pool on a Sunday - an amazing local whole hot roast chicken is available to pre-order. Meca Retreat is set in a dark sky area, so you can enjoy some amazing night skies so don't forget to bring your camera or paints & paintbrushes. We are dog friendly, subject to 2 large hounds at any one time.
